Cityworks - Using the Map

The map toolbar is located along the left side of the map. Additional map tools can be viewed from
the Tools drop-down list.

Favorite Map Tools

Frequently-used tools can be anchored to the top of the map as favorites. Tools that have been
added as favorites can be rearranged by dragging and dropping them to the desired position.
Favorite tools can be set and organized under User Preferences, see Update User Preferences for
more information. Your favorites are remembered each time you work with the map and are saved in the database so they will be maintained across different browsers and devices.
    1. Open the map by clicking the map icon in the upper-right corner of the site.
    2. Click Tools.
    3. Select the tools you want to always appear at the top of the map.

Bookmarks

The Bookmarks tool stores frequently visited map extents. They can be created for the user,
group, or domain, and can be created based on map extent or scale. Users will be able to view their bookmarks on any computer or device that they use.

Add a Bookmark
Bookmarks can be added for any view.
    1. Click Bookmarks on the map toolbar or select it from the Tools drop-down list.
    2. Select View in the Bookmarks panel.

    3. Navigate the map to the desired location and extent.
    4. Enter a name for this view in the Enter a name field.
    5. Select either Domain, Group, or User from the drop-down list to specify who will be able to            view this bookmark.
    6. Click Add or press Enter.

View a Bookmark
You can quickly move around the map by selecting bookmarks.
    1. Click Bookmarks on the map toolbar or select it from the Tools drop-down list.
    2. Click View or Scale.
    3. Select one of the saved bookmarks to move the map to that extent.

Set Initial Extent

The initial extent is where the map will open to every time you use it.
    1. Click Bookmarks on the map toolbar or select it from the Tools drop-down list.
    2. Navigate to the desired extent on the map.
    3. Click Set initial extent.

Delete a Bookmark
Bookmarks that are no longer used can be deleted.
    1. Click Bookmarks on the map or select it from the Tools drop-down list.
    2. Select View or Scale depending on what type of bookmark you want to delete.
    3. Click the bookmark.

    4. Click Delete.

Create Activity

The Create Activity tool allows you to select a point on the map and then view work history or
create new work activities.

Work activities can be created from a point on the map.
    1. Click Create Activity on the map toolbar or select it from the Tools drop-down list.
    2. Select Point.
    3. Click New activity.

    4. Set a point on the map.
    5. Select the type of activity to create. The new work activity will open in the work                            management tab.

Clear the Point

Any point added to the map can be cleared.
    1. Click Create Activity on the map toolbar or select it from the Tools drop-down list.
    2. Click Clear point.

Create Activity Fields

The following fields are found on the Create Activity map tool.

Point: Select to add a point to the map.
Selection: Select to make a selection on the map.
Create request: Click to create a new service request.
Create work order: Click to create a new work order.
Create inspection: Click to create a new inspection.
Create permit: Click to create a new permit.
Show history: Click to open the work history.
Clear point: Click to clear the point on the map and, if desired, select a new point.

 

Back: Click to go back to the previous page.
Reload Selection: Click to reload the map if the selection has been changed.
Next: Click to go to the next page.

Activity Type: Select the type of activity, work order or inspection.
Group: Select the group the asset is part of.
Asset: Select the type of asset.
Template: Select a template if there is one for the selected asset. This is only available if
a work order is being created.
Proj Start Date: Enter the projected start date, or select it using the calendar.
Submit To: Select the employee the work activity is being submitted to.
Supervisor: Select the supervisor. This is only available if a work order is being created.
Priority: Select the priority.
Group Assets: Select if all of the assets selected are for one work order. This is only
available if a work order is being created.
Create work order/Create inspection: Click when the work activity is ready to be
created. The icon will change depending on what type of work activity is being created.
