Microsoft Teams - Keep Track of Conversations

There are lots of things you can do to stay up to date in Teams.

Arrange your teams

Arrange your teams by clicking and dragging the team name anywhere in your teams list to place your teams in an order that makes sense to you, putting the busiest teams at the top of your list.

Favorite a channel

Favorite the channels you use the most. This way, they stay visible in your team list, and you'll see when new messages are posted.

From within the channel, click Favorite Favorite button next to the channel name.

Click Favorite to follow a channel

Follow a channel

To follow a channel, go to the channel name and click More options More options button > Follow this channel.

You can catch up on all your followed channels in your Activity feed. Click Activity Activity button > Filter Filter button > Following.

To get someone's attention in a channel conversation or a chat, @mention them. Just type @ before their name and then select them from the menu that appears.

They receive a notification, which they can click to go directly into the point in the conversation where they were mentioned.

To get the attention of an entire team, try one of these:

  • Post something in the Team's general channel. The channel name appears bold for every team member.

  • Type @team to message everyone on that team.

  • Type @channel to notify everyone who has favorited that channel.

Explore the Activity Feed

Select Activity Activity button to see your Activity feed, a summary of everything that's happened in the team channels you follow. You can also select Filter Filter button to show only certain types of messages such as unread messages, @mentions, replies, and likes.

When a red circle appears next to Activity Activity button , you have a notification such as an @mention or a reply that you can see in your feed.

Filter the activity feed based on conversation attributes such as unread or @mentions.
