What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
At the City of Georgetown IT department, our goal is to strengthen the security of your Office 365 account by enabling MFA with 2-step verification. MFA is a method of authentication that requires the person seeking access to data to be able to verify their identity in at least two ways. In general, it is two out of these methods:
- Something you know –a password
- Something you have –a hardware token, mobile phone or email
The second form of authentication can be a code on your city-issued cell phone using Authenticator App or a code by using a red token card issued by IT.
